HEAD RUSH
August 7, 2026
“HEAD RUSH” is a cinematic descent into desire, obsession, fantasy, and emotional collapse. Written over several years while silently processing sexual assault by a musician I had to continue performing with every day, the album explores the blurred line between intimacy and self-destruction — the rush of chasing love, validation, escape, and meaning while slowly losing yourself inside the process.
Because I never spoke about what happened, the emotions surfaced in other ways: through toxic relationships, repetition, longing, dissociation, and the unconscious attempt to “make it right” by reliving similar patterns with different people. These songs became a way of translating experiences I didn’t yet know how to fully confront out loud.
Across dreamy alt-pop textures, indie rock intensity, soulful vocals, and haunting lyricism, Julia Graves builds a surreal emotional world filled with frozen flowers, dreamers, witches, angels, and broken hearts. Each song feels suspended between memory and hallucination, capturing the dizzying cycle of vulnerability, seduction, grief, empowerment, and survival.
Glowing with raw emotion and cinematic tension, “HEAD RUSH” lives inside contradiction: soft and dangerous, beautiful and unraveling, euphoric and devastating all at once. It is an album about wanting so deeply it changes you.
